Talk about the ultimate throw down?! Last night's Music Experiment secret performance by Flux Pavilion in Hangar 8 at the Santa Monica Airport was incredible! Gothic Neon was no easy feat, but LA you came, you saw, you conquered, and Sir Flux was no slouch either. DJ goddess Tokimonsta set the tone with crazy bass-pumping tunes that kept the party flow growing, followed by a 45-minute set from Flux including favorites like "I Can't Stop," that got everyone on the floor. It was beyond trippy! It. Was. Epic. So thank you, Los Angeles, you helped the Music Experiment go out with a major bang. 

Early in the evening we were kinda bummed that last night's event would mark the end of the music series for 2012. So when you pledged your support by showing up in massive numbers, we were super excited and totally overwhelmed by the love. We wanted everyone to come inside and have a good time, but like with all venues there was a limit, and disappointingly, we had to turn so many of you away. The confusion outside the venue didn't help matters, which is why we made the executive decision to end the party earlier than we anticipated.

There's less than 36 hours before you start getting ready for the Music Experiment show, Los Angeles!!! ARE YOU READY?!!! We can't hear you....

As if you could wait another moment, we decided to bless you with a quick fix— an exclusive interview from Flux Pavilion before the big day. Get to know the UK based producer and DJ before he sets the stage ablaze at his secret show tomorrow night. And then maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to hold on until the doors blast open.

Here's an excerpt:

...So it’s a personal connection that basically makes it come together for you.

Music for me is everything I do and everything I am, and it has to be that personal because every song that I make is a part of me. By doing a collaboration, you’re actually sharing yourself with that person and they’re doing the exact same thing back. You gotta make sure it works, otherwise it’s like opening up and sharing your soul with someone else and they’re not treating it right.

These days the EDM DJs are huge, godlike performers at all these festivals like Steve Aoki and David Guetta and then you have more behind the scenes guys who simply stick to DJing. Which persona do you identify with more?

I think I’m more a behind the scenes person at heart. I love to be in the studio working, and that’s where I get most of my creative bursts hanging out working on music. But with that said, I’ve been pretty much touring since February and I’ve seen a whole new world in Djing and the element of performance, and I’m starting to really get into it. My extrovert is coming out, but I’m still an introvert naturally.

I can’t imagine how you felt when you got the call that “I Can’t Stop” was being used on Kanye and Jay Z’s Watch the Throne album. What was going through your mind when you found out they wanted to use your track?

I can’t really put it into words. Like, I’m sitting in my bedroom writing songs and then all of a sudden Jay-Z and Kanye West put one of my songs on their album. They could have chosen any song in the world and they chose that one. I still haven’t got my head around it. Ask me in about 5 or 6 years and I might have a good couple of minutes to sort it out.

Things to Remember:

* You must be 18 years of age to attend the Music Experiment. So be sure to bring your I.D. with you, when you pick up your tickets to the show.

* First dibs on tickets go to the fans who get to the pickup location first. So get there early (like seriously, early!) to make sure you score a pass to this epic event!

* Be prepared to wait. We have no idea how long the line will be. We have no idea how long it will take us to give away all the tickets. Just be patient with us as we try to speed things along. It will be much appreciated.

* Once you pick up your ticket, you will receive an info packet all about the event, from the theme to the chance you'll get to win an Intel-Inspired Ultrabook™. So even if you can't remember all of the details, your info packet will come through in a clutch.

* You will receive a pair of tickets, so no need to worry about raving alone because you won't have to!

* There is a theme, it's called Gothic Neon. ...So accent your dark threads with some ultraviolent hues, and you're all the way there.

Prepare to freaking party. MTV Iggy teamed up with Intel to put on another epic, free secret show as part of our ongoing series, The Music Experiment. This time, for the finale of our four-show run, dub king Flux Pavilion heads to Los Angeles on November 13 for a killer show that you don't want to miss. And to get you ravers ready, we've totally prepared an all-you-need-to-know guideline of do's and don'ts. Ten to be exact, but we'll only give you five for now.... So make sure to study hard, k, because no one wants to look crazy in front of Sir Flux.

Keep it Clean ... You're Under the Blacklight

Should be obvious, but hey. So if you've got some nasty stains on your teeshirt or elsewhere, leave it at home (or throw it in the wash already, man). Of course, circa 2 am, it's fully acceptable to have your beer and sweatstains outed by the blacklight machine. But don't get ahead of yourself and show up dirty to begin with. Not. Acceptable.

Avoid Cliches 

DON'T rock one of those "Have you seen Molly?" t-shirts. Ya know, unless you're going for that "I'm 17 and trying really hard to look totally awesome at my first rave" look. The EDM scene is all about expressing individuality, so stay true to your own style and rock something original and within the Gothic Neon theme. Hit up our Music Experiment Pinterest page for additional style cues, and your gear is guaranteed to be a conversation piece instead of useless smalltalk with the cops.

Loosen Up

Any serious raver knows that you're going to be on your feet, dancing your ass off for hours on end. Don't even think about being a stiff on the wall. So skip the constricting, uncomfortable clothing and let loose in some breezy, moveable gear that allows you to really shake it. Layers are great, as you can always take something off if you're getting overheated. Which brings us to our next point..

H20 Tho...

Water is your friend, so don't leave it as an afterthought. I know it'll be hard to think about anything but rocking out before the show, but don't leave your place without chugging a Poland Spring or two. The last thing you want to happen is you miss the show because you were too dehydrated and didn't want to fork over 5 bucks for bottled water at the venue. (Let's try not to see spots tonight, k?)

Don't be afraid to ditch your friends

Obviously you want to roll up to a rave with some party people. But don't let your posse end up being your ball and chain. Sometimes getting separated gives you the perfect in to squeeze your way up to the stage solo. So if you're trying to get a closer glimpse of the DJ, and your friends want to hang by the bar, do your thing. As long as it feels safe and your friends are cool with hanging back, establish a meeting spot for the end of the night, and you're golden.

You've been waiting for the main event, and like we just reminded you, it's finally here. But who wants to wait four more hours to see what's happening in Chapel Hill? Here's a sneak peek into round two of the Music Experiment including an exclusive interview with the show's Creative Director, Roye Segal.

We're assuming Chapel Hill is a madhouse at the moment. Given how many people waited on line for tickets, with some even camping out the night before, what's the current mood?

The atmosphere is electric. The whole town is buzzing about the show.  Word travels fast in small towns like these and the excitement is everywhere. Hundreds of fans lined up for hours for tickets, and it's so great to witness how the Music Experiment is coming together in Chapel Hill.

Have you run into any fanatic Santigold followers yet? Was there a memorable moment that you can share? 

We met a few local artists and musicians who are huge Santigold fans. They shared their artwork with us and we were blown away. So much so, we are now incorporating their work into the show! 

Where is Santigold currently? Is she where you are? Has she done soundcheck yet? How many songs can we expect tonight?

She is about to start soundcheck in 15min. There is a 15-song set planned plus an encore.

Can you describe the scene at the venue right now?

Our crew is busy putting the finishing touches on all the artwork, lighting cues are being finalized, soundcheck is about to start, and fans are already tweeting photos of their costumes.

Aside from the city and the artist, what sets this show apart from the kick-off event in NYC?

This experience is completely different from NYC.  There is such a special vibe about this town, and the love and passion for live music is really special. We are engaging with local theater companies, video artists, painters, dancers and they've all been contributing to the show. It is really a one-of-a-kind event brought to life with true Southern hospitality. 

The last Music Experiment event was in a gorgeous synagogue...is there anything you can tell Chapel Hill-ites about the secret location? Even just a little hint?

Well, well, well. You guys totally rocked yesterday, claiming hundreds of tickets in a matter of a few hours. Looks like some of you are a wee bit excited about seeing Of Monsters and Men perform live in New York City this week....

We don't blame you. And our heart goes out to those of you who tweeted us after all of the tickets were gone. You begged and pleaded. Some of you bribed us (-_-).... Some of you even called our offices today, to see if we had any more OMAM tickets left here. Sorry guys, no mas.  

Well, that was the case until we had a little talk with Intel. Thanks to your overwhelming push to get tickets, we're moving some things around so that ALL of you can be in the building come Thursday. We even printed a few extra tickets. And guess what? Let us break it down.

1) There are four secrets shows in four different cities, featuring four different artists. It's called the Music Experiment and it's presented by Intel and powered by MTV Iggy. 

Are you with me? Just checking...

2) There are four concerts, four cities and four artists. Each artist is assigned one city in which to perform a secret show. So Of Monsters and Men take on New York. Santigold will reign in Chapel Hill. The Jezabels will kill in Portland, and Diplo will shut it down in Los Angeles.

3) So you know the artists, you know the cities and you know when they're performing... what's so secret about that, you ask? There are hundreds of free tickets available for each concert, but we hid them in various locations in the regions where the shows are happening. Those free ticket locations are the secret, and your gateway to the show.

4) The only way to find out which locations in your region are holding the free tickets to the Music Experiment, you must tweet using the #musicexperiment hashtag. As you do so, the large map (at the top of this page) zooms in. The more you tweet, the closer the map gets to revealing the locations in your city that have the free tickets. 

5) Once the map hits 100%, all of the free ticket locations will be revealed so that you can pick up free tickets.

6) When you get there, look for an MTV Iggy representative who will give you a pair of tickets and the theme for your concert. (Yes, there is a theme, so be prepared to play dress up come show night.) Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis, so get there early. No exceptions, as tickets are limited.

But wait, there's more. There is another way to get tickets.... you can play the Music Experiment Facebook App.

1) From your desktop, you must sign up to play the ME Facebook App directly on Facebook, here.

2) There are four games on the ME Facebook App that you can play to earn points toward a pair of VIP passes, access to an exclusive post-show screening, and the grand prize, an Intel Inspired Ultrabook™.

3) You can play three of the games daily, but only once once a day. While the remaining game can only be played once during the entire ME Experiment. Play as often as possible and get as many of the challenges correct to earn points to those prizes.

4) Each round the top ten scorers will win a pair of VIP passes, which allows them entry into one of the four secret shows. But you can only win this prize once.

5) Each round the top 500 scorers will get access to a special post-show screening room, where they will be able to  watch the most recent show + exclusive behind the scenes footage of the ME artists. 

6) In November, at the end of the Music Experiment, the top five overall scorers for the duration of ME will win the grand prize, an Intel Inspired Ultrabook™, fully-loaded with special content from Of Monsters and Men, The Jezabels Santigold and Diplo.

Didn't we tell you that Of Monsters and Men were busy busy? Surely touring the globe over the past few weeks has been no small feat, but now it seems that even OMAM tunes are getting a rework. Enter their latest remix for "Little Talks" a la Passion Pit. 

The electro-pop makeover by the rockers from Massachussets is pretty wicked, and provides a cool, get-up-and-dance edge to OMAM's somewhat laidback, Icelandic flow. Four words: Get ready to boogie...

In just two short weeks, Of Monsters and Men will be hitting the stage for the ME New York secret show presented by Intel and powered by MTV Iggy. And thanks to your consistent tweets, we're that much closer to unlocking the locations where free tickets are being held. Keep the tweets going, and we'll be at 100% in no time.

Meanwhile, OMAM, the indie pop band who made a folksy little song called "Little Talks" infamous, is chiming away on tour throughout Europe. With a couple of spot dates to go before they head to Australia (where they will perform in Darlinghurst, Melbourne and Fortitude Valley) and then to the US, we hit up OMAM's Facebook Band page to see what the notorious members of the group were up to.

Lo and behold some of the members made a pit stop in Reykjavik, Iceland (see pic above), taking a brief respite at home before hitting the road again. Some went fishing, while others traveled elsewhere to really take advantage of their down time. Either way, we're sure the storytellers of OMAM are having a blast because they're never too far from an epic experience.
